So what is happening this weekend in the local and global world of mountain biking?
First off, of course, we have our Virtual ALL RIDE going off over the weekend which is free to enter and can be done anywhere! The entries close at 5pm this evening so if you're not in, or your mates haven't entered make sure you sort that out fast to be in line for some great prizes. We will be clocking our 25km on the Moutons Valley Farm in the Picket-Bo-Berg, pretty stoked! Be sure to let us know on social media where you're riding and who you're riding with!
Also on the local scene is the Nissan Trailseeker series race #3. This 1 day marathon race will be taking place on the Van Gaalen Cheese Farm. Saturday morning at 7am, the elite men will leave the start gate followed by the elite ladies at 7:05. They have a 60km course with just a touch under 1000m elevation deal with and there is a healthy lineup of pros looking to prove themselves and take home the glory.
Round #2 at Buffelsdrift saw Matthys Beukes of team Pyga Eurosteel take home the win with team mates Pieter Du Toit and Philip Buys following in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Tristan Nortje, Jan Withaar, and Wessel Botha were hot on their heels and will be hungry for the podium this weekend! In the ladies race we saw Robyn De Groot taking the win by 1 second over Amy Mcdougall and followed by Candice Lill! Some tight racing! Keep an eye out for those race updates and results tomorrow!
Across the equator, on the coastline of Italy, the second round of this year's Enduro World Series will be taking place. Pietra Ligure will be hosting the event for the first time in history and the trails are looking fit for an incredible race! Rocky and tight, classic Italian style, with a good helping of flow in between. We are very jealous that we can't be there right now but there are a few of our local riders who have crossed the pond to get between the tapes! Théo Erlangsen, Matt Lombardi and Sharjah Jonsson are entered for the race which looks to be a real physical one! They can expect a 50km day with close on 2000m of pedalling up the liaisons. In terms of stages there will be 5 of them totalling 9.1km of track dropping 1500m. Good luck for that one boys!
Jesse Melamed, Martin Maes, Isabeau Courdurier, Morgane Charre, and many others will be looking pinned for the win! We cannot wait to see the results and highlights!
Have good one! J-Dogg
